How much money would it take to buy everyone in the world a piece of cake?

Steve is serving the kids a bite-sized piece of delicsiousness
I wonder if Bill Gates' fortune would be enough to buy everyone in the world a piece of cake. I wonder if there is a missions team out there organizing a bunch of culinary artists to partake in a bake-off like the world has never seen.

After having seen a class of 50+ students being served cake for the first time, I have decided that cake is the most precious element on the face of the earth. The way their eyes lit up when the instructor lifted the lid from the box, the way they waited patiently while the instructors first served their American visitors, the way the children opened their mouth wide to receive a sweet gift and the way the smile spread across their face as the sweet sugary frosting dissolved in their mouth -made me want to cry. They were so appreciative of such a small chunk of cake.

I would give up cake for the rest of my life if my share went to these kids here in Africa. What joy I experienced from watching them eat cake.

  1. Wow Leann! As I am reading this, I flash back to my life in Nigeria and the first time I arrived in America. I remember keeping every gift I got and would not throw away the packages because I did not have much before my life in America. I cried while reading this because most Americans do not understand the privilege of living in America, a country that has the kind of leaders that care for the people. The problem in most African countries is not that they are naturally poor, but that few men in power are inhaling all the wealth. I pray that God will eliminate every source of corruption in African and the rest of the world.

Please, do not have the thought that you are not doing much because your presence is just enough for those kids. I am telling you this from experience. I know that it can be frustrating to repeat yourself several times on both ends. You might feel like you are doing little, but the impact you have and will have on these people is going to be internal. I know that God has put you in Kenya (such a time as this) for a great reason. Even if you only impact one child, it will go a long way. Remember the story of Esther? God put her in the palace for the deliverance of the Jews. I know that you are in Kenya for a particular purpose.

When Pastor Joy came to Nigeria, she did not know exactly what God was doing. Today, she will tell you that God took her to Nigeria just for me to come to America and have a new life. My coming to America has influenced so many people. So, my friend, be yourself and know that you are touching many lives. I love and miss you so much.

I want you to know that God is so close to you! I am praying for you!

Hard to believe we've been back a week - it was an amazing experience and we were the ones that were blessed.

Continue to allow God to use you and shine through you! You are making an eternal difference my friend!
